Planet

G-Star takes responsibility for any potential environmental impact across all stages of our value chain.

We consider everything from the choice of raw materials and fibers to responsible fabric and garment production and logistics, from our own operations, all the way through to consumer care and end-of-life of the product.

G-Star has a clear understanding of the environmental risks and runs programs on:

CIRCULARITY

If we want to be here as a denim brand in the future, we need to design in “closed loops” today. By this, we mean using only sustainable materials, clean chemistry and ensuring that garments are designed for reuse.

GOAL 2025: 20% of the entire G-Star collection will be made from Cradle to Cradle Certified® fabrics

RESPONSIBLE MATERIALS

We are committed to ensuring that all raw materials used in our products are grown and manufactured in a responsible way that preserves resources and respects human and animal rights.

GOAL 2025: 75% of our collection will be made from recycled, organic, bio-based or compostable materials.
GOAL 2030: 100% of our collection will be made from recycled, organic, bio-based or compostable materials.

CLIMATE CHANGE

We focus our climate impact work on our supply chain and consumer engagement, while also taking steps in our own offices and stores.

GOAL 2030: Reduce 42% of GHG emissions* from a 2021 baseline.
GOAL 2050: Net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

*The Science Based Targets initiative has approved G-Star's near-term science-based emissions reduction target. G-Star commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline. G-Star also commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution 42% within the same timeframe.

Pollution

Minimizing pollution and the environmental impact of hazardous chemicals have been a major priority for us since signing the DETOX Commitment with Greenpeace in 2013.

GOAL 2030: Phased out all unsustainable chemical applications in G-Star products
