The Newson Effect
A modern-day Renaissance man, Newson defies categorization. He has spent his career crossing borders—both geographic and disciplinary. From Sydney to London, from furniture to fashion, his work is driven by a singular approach: industrial design as a way of thinking. He rose to recognition with the Lockheed Lounge, a sculptural chair he created at just 25 years old. Now a design icon, it holds the record as the most expensive work ever sold by a living designer.

Collaborations
Reissued: Form, Fashion, Function
A man who breathes design and speaks the language of materials, our longtime collaborator Marc Newson returns for a reissue of his most iconic designs for us. A capsule collection of 22 updated pieces that have truly withstood the test of time, from selvedge denim to refined leather. He reimagines heritage through a modern lens, transforming utilitarian archives into fresh perspectives.
Our first collaboration started in 2004 as a creative challenge to reinterpret our signature jeans, the G-STAR Elwood. Intrigued, he brought a fresh perspective to fashion design. His background in sculpture and jewelry informs a sharp eye for detail, and his influences—modern art and engineering—shape a distinctive visual language: fluid forms, bold surfaces, and unexpected materials. This collaboration ran biannually until 2016, producing garments that blended industrial precision and artistic innovation. And now, it’s back.
“G-STAR doesn’t chase trends: they approach fashion with a level of authenticity that’s truly rare. Their passion for art and design really sets them apart.”
– Marc Newson

The Capsule Reimagined
The updated 22-piece capsule marks the enduring power of purposeful design. Each piece is built with intention, reflecting Newson’s distinctive aesthetic and our unmistakable utilitarian heritage. Inspired by Japanese workwear and industrial design, the collection showcases innovative construction techniques and clean finishes. Italian selvedge denim features rubber-sealed pockets, echoing Newson’s futuristic edge. And the HUG puffer comes in a blue colorway, paying homage to our signature denim hue. And with its bubble-like shape, it mirrors the Australian designer’s signature biomorphic silhouettes.
