Magnus Carlsen returns for his second collaboration with G-Star in the new campaign, again he represents the young insurgent of chess. Famous for his confident and unpredictable style of play, he embodies the spirit of unconventional thinking.
Born in Norway in 1990, Margnus Carlsen is the highest ranked chess player in the world. A child prodigy, Carlsen became a grandmaster at the tender age of 13. Last January, at the age of 22, Magnus beat Kasparov’s legendary record of 2851 to become the highest rated player in the history of Chess. Magnus' current rating is 2870, well ahead of the other top players on the official chess ranking list. Magnus will play in the World Championship against the titleholder Viswanathan Anand, this momentous event will take place in Chennai, India from 7th - 28th November 2013.

As a teenager, his attacking playing style won him the respect of many established chess names and on April 26th 2004, he became the third youngest Grandmaster in history at the age of 13.
His performance at the 2009 Nanjing Pearl Spring tournament has been described as one of the greatest in history. It earned him an Elo rating of 2801, making him the fifth player in history to achieve such a rating.
His powerful performances continued and on January 1st 2010, Magnus became the youngest ever World Chess Number One — the first player from a western nation to reach the top of the rankings since Bobby Fischer in 1972. Magnus has been described as the ‘Mozart of chess’, his uncompromising approach to the game mirrors the hardcore design philosophy of G-Star.
