For the Davin collection, G-Star takes inspiration from apparel worn by seafarers of the past. For both men and women, the collection contains modernised naval pieces in denim and canvas. Oversized anchor buttons, functional flap pockets and inky shades of blue are used to reference the sea. The collection includes modern pieces like the Davin denim, parka, overcoat and gilet.
The low pockets on the thigh of the Davin denim reflect those used traditionally on sailors’ pants. The pockets were set low on the thigh to keep sailors’ hands warm while standing at attention, but without creasing the hem of their pea coats.
Like naval apparel, the mazarine shade used in the collection is deep and dark in its raw state. For women this intense indigo is complemented with Japanese-inspired fabrics woven on jacquard looms. With recurring patterns and stippled lines, these finely woven textiles add feminine contrast when layered with denim.
For men G-Star introduces the Davin in two tapered fits, a 3D loose tapered and a slim tapered. The first uses 3D construction to build volume into the leg, while the second is cut closer to the body for a sleeker fit. Both use a wide top block and narrow hems to create a modern tapered look.
Key pieces for men in the Davin collection are the cropped pea coat, parka and gilet. The single-breasted pea coat comes in 11oz dark indigo raw denim; its diamond stitch-work secures a fully lined interior. Big naval-style buttons characterize the high-collared parka, while the gilet features broad pockets and is made from dark raw denim with sturdy canvas details.

Rich in feminine tailoring and details, the Davin collection of tops is inspired by patterned indigo fabrics brought by sailors to Europe in the 17th century. A mix of silhouettes and lengths creates the opportunity for creative layering.
The women’s tops are complemented by the Davin denim in two contemporary fits: loose tapered and skinny. A low drop crotch gives the loose tapered fit a modern, informal feel, while the skinny version is cut to the leg for a feminine, streamlined look.
For a winter denim look, layer the Davin Jaq overcoat over the Davin shirt, in combination with a dark Davin pant. The woven patterns in the tops contrast with the inky dark blue of the pant, creating a laid-back yet sophisticated look.
