By the middle of the twentieth century, the grey flannel suit had become the uniform of corporate ambition. What you wore located you within a system before you had even spoken: it showed where you worked, where you belonged and how seriously you expected to be taken.

How the Work Uniform Came Apart

The contemporary workplace has dismantled much of that certainty. Work now happens across offices, homes, trains, studios and shared spaces. Dress codes have loosened with it, but the need to look considered has not disappeared. The pullover and blazer remain relevant because they can operate on both sides of that shift.
