Last January during Berlin Fashion Week, G-Star presented this season’s RAW Cargo collection in the St. Agnes Church. Like the iconic concrete building, the collection – for both men and women - values outspoken functionality with a powerful edge.
Intensive research of the functional detailing in vintage army wear and objects is the foundation of the RAW Cargo collection. Authentic details are reworked into strictly modern pieces based on G-Star’s need to innovate and explore new boundaries in design.
Each season a specific military theme inspires the collection, ranging from a single field coat button to an entire army wardrobe. Functional shapes, materials, colours and details are distilled to their essence before being transformed into a new and modern range of apparel.
For Autumn/Winter 2013, the design team took inspiration from the minimalistic look of authentic Swedish military uniforms. Rounded utility pockets, taped-on buttons and quilting mark the collection.
Crisp greens are brought to life in a variety of fabrics and textures - ranging from high-tech ripstop to lightweight twill - that can be combined in several ways. Like all G-Star collections, RAW Cargo is designed to mix with denim.
